When I was little I had an infinite amount of questions to ask, as most children do. My grandmother ALWAYS had an answer. I could ask any question, on any topic, and she would have an answer. She knew everything! I always admired how well-read and educated she kept herself. Now I have two children of my own. My youngest is just over a year old, and doesn't have many questions of his own. My oldest is turning five, the prime age for needing questions answered. With her endless supply of questions, I sometimes find myself with limited answers to give her.
One day while listening to some of her questions I thought to myself, "I have no idea what is happening!". That statement goes to a very broad range of topics. There are times when I don't feel like I was educated on elementary topics (really, it has been so long I don't remember much of it). It seems that all I know right now is how to make a meal all my family members will eat, and how to get to the next paycheck with a few bucks left in the account. Feeling like I barely know enough to satiate my child's thirst for knowledge is very disappointing. I have always wanted to have all the answers like my grandmother did, but never really sought the knowledge out. That is how the idea for this blog was born. I want to involve others in this process, because I can't be the only one looking for knowledge to feed others with. I want to reach ANYONE looking for answers, not just parents.
Every month I will have a different (very broad) topic, eventually chosen by the community, such as: movies, animals, family, politics, etc. Then the weekly posts will get a little more specific based on questions, headlines, and discoveries about the topic. Let's build a community of learning and growing. I would like this community to be open to being educated and willing to have real discussions. I do not want a community that resorts to name-calling and biased opinion shoving. I will site sources I use, and if anyone feels it is inaccurate, please educate me with factual sources. Thanks for following and being a part of this journey. Now, let's get an idea of what is happening!
